Belluck Law petitioned the Court of Chancery of the State of Delaware to appoint a receiver for The Walworth Company, a manufacturer of asbestos-containing valves.

Last Friday, March 21, 2025, the Court of Chancery of the State of Delaware granted the Belluck Law petition to appoint a receiver for the Walworth Company.

Founded in the middle of the 19th Century, The Walworth Company grew to become a major manufacturer of asbestos-containing valves for industry worldwide and also for the United States Navy during its heyday.  Like many other American manufacturing companies, its business declined and it became defunct.  Its state of incorporation, Delaware, eventually declared the company void.  As a result, the countless tort victims who were exposed to The Walworth Company’s dangerous products over the years were previously unable to bring suit against the company to obtain compensation, despite the company still having viable insurance assets that it purchased over the years for this very purpose.

With this order, Belluck Law, LLP’s clients who were exposed to The Walworth Company’s can now bring suit against The Walworth Company by serving its Court-appointed receiver.  The receiver will have full authority to act on behalf of Walworth.  This includes administering its assets, providing notice to Walworth’s insurers, and asserting, defending and settling claims on behalf Walworth for the benefit of its creditors, i.e. tort victims.
